"Principato di Leuca"- marchio consacrato in Chiesa

"Principato di Leuca" è una "Gemma d'Italia" che aspetta di essere incastonata.

"Principato di Leuca" - un marchio che fu benedetto in Chiesa e non poteva essere altrimenti perché esso si riferisce al primo lembo della terra toccata da San Pietro il quale, arrivato dalla Palestina, iniziò da qui la sua opera di evangelizzazione, per poi giungere a Roma dove fondò la Chiesa stessa.
Fu allora che Leuca assunse il suo nome completo di "Santa Maria di Leuca". Il passaggio di San Pietro è anche documentato dalla colonna corinzia del 1694 eretta sul piazzale della Basilica-Santuario "de Finibus Terrae".
Ogni anno qui si festeggia la Madonna di Santa Maria di Leuca. La statua della Madonna, dopo essere stata trasferita dal Santuario alla Chiesa del Cristo Re, viene portata in processione per tutto il paese, fino ad arrivare al porto.
Il 19 giugno 2004 proprio nella Chiesa del Cristo Re avvenne la Consacrazione a "Principe di Leuca" del principe Barbaccia Viscardi degli Hohenstaufen di Svevia, Gran Maestro dell'Ordine Cavalleresco devoto alla Vergine con la Consegna delle Chiavi "de Finibus Terrae", e ebbe un inizio la vita del "Principato di Leuca".

Una cerimonia tutta da ricordare che Vi invitiamo a rivivere.

"Principality of Leuca" is a "Gem of Italy" waiting to be embedded.

"Principality of Leuca" - a brand that was blessed in church and it could not be otherwise because it refers to the first corner of the earth touched by St. Peter who arrived from Palestine, starting from here his work of evangelization, and then on in Rome where he founded the Church itself. It was then that Leuca assumed his full name "Santa Maria di Leuca. The passage of St. Peter is also documented by the Corinthian column erected in 1694 on the square of the Basilica-Sanctuary "de Finibus Terrae".
Every year it is celebrated here the Madonna of Santa Maria di Leuca. The statue of the Madonna, after being transferred from the Basilica-Sanctuary to the Church of Christ the King, is carried in procession around the country, reaching the port.
On June 19, 2004 just in the Church of Christ the King it happened the consecration as "Prince of Leuca" of the Prince Barbaccia Viscardi Hohenstaufens' of Swabia, Grand Master of the Chivalric Order devoted to the Virgin with the Commitment of the Keys of "Finibus Terrae", and started its life the "Principality of Leuca".
